One end of the living / dining room at our Gascony cottage with two windows
looking over the street below.
The front of our house in the centre of the ancient arcaded terrace.

Left - stairs from the lower hallway lead up to the living areas, bedroom and bathroom
Right - the front doors in the lower hall lead straight out under the arcades.
We have recently had the floors in the hall and stairs paved with bright terra-cotta tiles.

- and its very pleasant to sit just outside our front door under the covered arcades
for an aperitif or a meal. Note that we have bought a larger table since this photo was taken.
We usually have a chat with everyone passing by.

There is usually something happening under the arcades,
like the group of artists shown here sketching this picturesque village - or maybe a wedding party
wanting their photos taken here - and sometimes a school group having a lesson in history.

Upstairs - the kitchen has excellent cooking equipment - a cook top, oven, microwave and a
full sized fridge and the washing machine.  It gets all the morning sun and great view out over the arcades -

Another view of the kitchen.
- and so does the dining area which is separated from the kitchen by a half height bench.

The other end of the living /dining room with TV, books, games and CD and DVD players.

- and when some of our large family stay here, there is plenty of room for a game of Monopoly.
There are two bedrooms on the same floor as the living room and bathroom - one double room

- and right next to it is another bedroom with 2 single beds. The rooms are large and roomy..

- and a large loft bedroom / extra living / playroom area on the second floor.

Kathy looking down over the arcades from the living room window on the first floor.

There is a small lane right behind the cottage where we usually leave our car
right outside our garage, otherwise there is plenty of parking just outside the arch.

Flowering geraniums hanging in front of our doorway.

 The cottage at Tillac
The classified and most historic La Maison des Arcades dates back to 1470, although there were
previous dwellings here in a 13C village. Described as a like a 'set from Shakespeare', the quaint street is often
photographed and features in postcards of Gascony. The sunny living areas overlook the cobbled street,
which is for foot traffic only, and has cool sitting out place under the arcades.
Ground floor
The front door leads straight into the entrance hall with stairs up to the first floor and access to the garage where
our car lives when we are not in France. There are 4 mountain bikes and tennis racquets for the local courts.
The clothes dryer and outdoor furniture also are down here.
The key-code to the tennis court is in our house as we have paid up membership. Our guests can play free of charge.
Middle floor
Stairs lead up to a hall leading into a long living / dining area. One end has a dining setting and desk, original exposed
beams and terra-cotta tiled floors. The other end of the room has 2 comfortable couches,  and an oak floor with rug.
The kitchen, separated by a bench, has built in cupboards, fridge; single bowl sink and washing machine;
gas / electric cook top with range hood. There is an excellent bench top oven and a microwave.
There are two bedrooms on this floor, one with a double bed and the other with two singles.
The modern bathroom has bath with shower over, fitted wash basin, and WC.
Second floor
Stairs go up to a large 36 x 16 ft attic room with a big opening skylight.
There is a double bed, 2 cots and several comfortable chairs for relaxing.
Gas and electric heating.  Electric hot water.  Telephone.
Parking in the back lane behind cottage or 50 metres away.  The house sleeps 6 people + 2 babies.
